FORMATION: third person plural(they) form of the preterit. Drop the "ron" and add endings

first verb in preterit/imperfect, second verb in imperfect subjunctive
My parents wanted that I spoke Spanish.
Mis padres querian que yo hablara Espanol.

It was a shame that they ate the grapes.
